Holidays at the lake of Laouzas in Southern France in Tarn
At more than 800 metres above sea level and 80 kilometers from the sea, the Lake of Laouzas is the perfect location for a vacation in the Tarn in Southern France. Rieumontagné
Rieu Montagné is the tourist centre of the lake. You can find there the municipal beach, water sports, the museum of art and folk traditions as well as a campsite.
The dam of the lake of Laouzas
Built on the river Vèbre, it was put in operation in 1965. It supplies in water the underground hydroelectric plant of Montahut, near Olargues and the valley of the Orb, thanks to an underground tunnel with a difference in height of more than 500 m.
The Dam of Laouzas measure 48 m high and 295 m long. It covers an area of 335 hectares and retains 45 million m3 of water.
